Million Dollar Decorators Aired On May 31st …..

June 6th, 2011

….and I missed it!

Thank goodness, Bravo, runs their shows more than once.
I caught it the next night and was not impressed.

Nutshell version-
deadline problem with the Osbournes, divorce mid-
project, birthday celebration with guacamole made with
dirty hands and questionable comments made to the client.

The show and the decorators did nothing to dignify the profession of Interior Designers.
I suppose that is why the title is Million Dollar Decorators.

In case you don’t know there is a difference……

The biggest difference in the two, is that designers must have an education.  Decorators don’t need any education.

As of 2009, 25 states and the District of Columbia had educational requirements in place for interior designers. Most of those state requirements are based on the standards of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, or NCIDQ. Under NCIDQ standards, designers must earn a minimum of 120 semester hours of course work, with no fewer than 60 of those hours focused on interior design work. Most colleges and universities that offer programs in interior design are designed to satisfy the NCIDQ requirements [source: NCIDQ].

On a positive note. The work that was shown on the show was wonderful.
