We’re obsessing over the sculpture made out of various books. What a fun idea!  Go to an antiques store and buy some vintage books. Choose books that you love for some reason- color, design, content- let this piece INSPIRE you. Place them on the wall in any shape, size, or order that you please. The different colors and sizes of the books  will give you an eccentric art piece that’s all your own.

Start creating!

So I’m sure many of you have had the “color” lesson in elementary/middle school…but I bet you never thought it could help you with choosing colors for your home?
Now that you’re older and wiser, let’s go back and revisit this lesson!
Colors are defined as Primary, Secondary & Tertiary

Primary Colors: red, yellow and blue
These colors make every other color in the spectrum
*Make a bold statement in any decor

Secondary Colors: purple (red and blue), green (blue and yellow), and orange (yellow and red).
These colors equal combinations of two primary colors
*Can be engaging, but they sometimes need to be shaded to work together

Tertiary Colors: red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-purple and red-purple
These colors are made by mixing a primary and it’s adjacent secondary color in equal proportions
*Can combine for a very sophisticated look

According to Color Theory:
A good combination is one that uses
-Two colors opposite each other on the color wheel
-Three colors equally spaced around the color wheel
-Two pairs of colors (a total of four) opposite each other

Tip of the day…
What kind of paint should I use for my wainscoting and chair rails?
When clients ask how to treat wainscoting and chair rails,
I usually will suggest that they paint with a semi-gloss white
so that it shows as architectural. With a dark wallpaper or paint
color on top, you get a really crisp contrast.
