I love art that is not room specific and can transition to various rooms around the house. I chose one of his pieces to demonstrate just what I mean. This beautiful piece would make quite a statement over the crib of a nursery or in the foyer entrance to the home.

Small Fry(day) – Paint and a little creativity…

I am sure you have heard of the amazing powers of a can of paint…but it really is true. One of the quickest and easiest ways to freshen up a room or a piece of furniture is with some paint.
I recently updated an old green chest with some fresh white paint and a can of hot pink spray paint to finish off a little corner of my baby’s nursery. And lo and behold…
BEFORE
AFTER
So much better, right?!?! The chest itself got a coat of Sherwin Williams Pearly White. The hardware was in terrible shape. I tried to polish up the brass, but some pieces were beyond help. Enter the hot pink spray paint for a hit of color. Doing the hardware was not enough, so I thought I needed an additional detail on the drawer fronts to tie it all together. I was tossing around several design details in my head when I saw this detail on a chest in the latest House Beautiful magazine.
I knew that this was the shape I wanted. I created a template and taped it off and used my hot pink spray paint once again. I LOVE the way it turned out. An easy update to a boring old chest.

Small Fry(day) – Cupid’s Arrow
Friday, February 14th, 2014Happy Valentine’s Day!! I hope you are spending some time with the ones you love. I am hoping to get some extra hugs and kisses today from my two little ones, and maybe a bit of extra attention from my sweetheart!! I cannot say that this is my View More
Happy Valentine’s Day!! I hope you are spending some time with the ones you love. I am hoping to get some extra hugs and kisses today from my two little ones, and maybe a bit of extra attention from my sweetheart!! I cannot say that this is my favorite of all holidays, but I do love fresh flowers of any kind and my husband never disappoints.
For this Valentine’s Day post, I decided to create a nursery board. Rather than fill it with pink and red and hearts galore, I put a different take on it. Who doesn’t want to be struck by cupid’s arrow?!?! Arrows are all over home decor right now, and I think, are a great graphic pattern to add into a baby’s room. This is how I would do it. A large scale for the rug paired with more a more simple arrow shape on the bedding. A few pops of red, a gallery wall, and you have a lovely nursery inspired by this day of hearts.

Last week, I mentioned I made a trip to New York and while there, I had the chance to visit with one of my very best friends in Brooklyn. She did such an amazing job putting her THIRD nursery together! The baby’s gender was a surprise, and I loved the neutral backdrop of furnishings with pops of color throughout with the wall hanging, toys, and mobile. I was so impressed with this sweet room, I had to take a few pictures to share!
One of my favorite items in the room is the wall hanging she used above the crib. It is so unique and unexpected for a child’s room. I searched for wall decor with a similar feel that would be fun for a baby’s room. Here are a few that I found.
