According to Mr. Webster… étagère (noun) /ā tä ‘zher/
:a piece of furniture consisting of a set of open shelves for displaying small objects and sometimes naming an enclosed cabinet as a base.
The origin is France the latter part of the 18th century. I am sure that you have heard the term “whatnot”. Well,
the “whatnot” has come a long way as you will see.
If your home lacks elegant shelving the the Étagère is the perfect piece to help give you the look of well edited shelves. It is a great place to show
case your collection of precious objects. Well edited is the key. Don’t over whelm by over loading.
Today you can find them in all shapes, sizes and materials. They make a great piece to use in any room really. Use just one or
create a balance by using a pair. They can not help stealing the spotlight!
You will see that the styles can range from GROOVY to Serious and everything in between.

Take a look at some of our favorite ways to show off your art pieces. There’s no right or wrong, only what feels beautiful to you.
Use a full wall to display your art. Don’t be afraid to hang frames behind the furniture.
Perch your artwork on long narrow picture shelves and overlap the frames. This gives you the freedom to rearrange.
Let your frames spill onto the floor.
Mix in 3-d objects.

This weekend we had the pleasure of visiting the Surya exhibition at market in Las Vegas. What a fun place to be! Their showroom was so warm and inviting with plenty of helpful, friendly reps to answer all our questions. Their selections are simply stunning so we just had to show you some first-hand pics of their brand new rugs.

While watching a Sunday night movie (You’ve Got Mail), I realized that all my favorite romantic comedies have awesome interiors. Can’t be a coincidence. Maybe we love these movies because they’re cute, funny AND they look good.
