I Love Chocolate and I Love Easy!

4 Minute Brownie Pie

Yield: 8 servings
Prep Time: 4 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 24 minutes

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup dutch process cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. Kahlua (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped and toasted walnuts, pecans or macadamia nuts (optional)
  1. Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 inch springform pan or 9 inch pie plate and set aside.
  2. Combine eggs through Kahlua (if using) in the bowl of a mixer. Mix for 4 minutes until batter is thoroughly combined .. and yes, you need to mix for a full 4 minutes!
  3. Stir in nuts if using.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20 – 30 minutes until pie is set on top and doesn’t jiggle when you move it – pie should look dry on top!
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool. As the pie cools it will sink – that’s ok and is what is supposed to happen!
  6. Slice and serve and ENJOY!

Quick Tips For Picking Paint Colors

Choosing the perfect paint color for your home is a daunting task for some. Try these helpful tips to help you make your decision easier:

*When selecting paint chips, gather variations of every color you like—pale, saturated, plus cooler and warmer tones.  Using these paint chips narrow down your favorites.  They are just too small to really see what the color will do in your space so once you’ve chosen your favorites, see if small pots are available in that color.  If not, it is a good idea to have a small can mixed for you to try at home.  It is SO important to see how the color reacts in your space and light.
*Keep in mind that dark, highly saturated shades tend to draw the walls inward, while neutrals make a room seem bigger.
*A lot of light washes out colors, so you may decide to try a more saturated shade for a room with a lot of natural light.
*Use painter’s tape to hang painted foam core on the wall of the room you plan to paint, then make a point of looking at your samples at different times of day.  The light changes during the day and while you may love the color in the morning it may make you feel SICK at night!!!

Quote of the Day

I love this quote that I read in the June issue of Dwell magazine.
This quote comes from the book, The Decoration of Houses, where Edith Wharton wrote that many people believe designers and architects possess “some strange craft like black magic” to successfully create house and home. Hm, I must say, I have to agree with that 🙂

New Obsession…

While visiting the Karen Saks designer showroom today, I stumbled upon a pattern that caught my eye by Vervain fabrics. This fun pattern is called Boboli Trellis and comes in 6 different colorways. Here’s a peak!

Tip of the day: Be creative and think outside of the box…or in this case…the buttons!
Here is a sneak peak of one of our favorite
client’s music room

If you have a chair with buttons that you love and you want to spice it up a bit, cover the existing buttons with your favorite fabric! This chair is covered in left over Kravet fabric from the custom-made curtains used in the music room. All you need to do is cut the fabric into small circles and use a tool to tuck the fabric around the button. Easy peazy!

Have a HAPPY weekend!
