Howdy Friends! Sooo, lately we’ve had a lot of custom requests from our lovely clients including fireplaces and staircases!
Take a look at this custom newel post for our Coastal Home Redesign and let us know what you think!
In case you don’t know what a newel post is….
new·el
ˈn(y)o͞owəl/
noun
1. the central supporting pillar of a spiral or winding staircase
Painting stair rails and newel posts black makes for a great contrast. We are big fans of this look!

I am sure you have heard of the amazing powers of a can of paint…but it really is true. One of the quickest and easiest ways to freshen up a room or a piece of furniture is with some paint.
I recently updated an old green chest with some fresh white paint and a can of hot pink spray paint to finish off a little corner of my baby’s nursery. And lo and behold…
BEFORE
AFTER
So much better, right?!?! The chest itself got a coat of Sherwin Williams Pearly White. The hardware was in terrible shape. I tried to polish up the brass, but some pieces were beyond help. Enter the hot pink spray paint for a hit of color. Doing the hardware was not enough, so I thought I needed an additional detail on the drawer fronts to tie it all together. I was tossing around several design details in my head when I saw this detail on a chest in the latest House Beautiful magazine.
I knew that this was the shape I wanted. I created a template and taped it off and used my hot pink spray paint once again. I LOVE the way it turned out. An easy update to a boring old chest.

Lately, I have been finding some fun alternatives to the standard gliders/rockers that you find in many of kids’ retail stores and catalogs. What I love about these it that they can all transition out of the nursery into other rooms of the house.
